Schedule:
The museum is open 7 days a week with a full calendar of rental events. Weekend availability is required for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Facilities

  • Assists with repairs and maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Sets up and arranges tables, chairs, and decorations to prepare museum rooms for meetings, internal events and rental events.  
  • Assists with painting, lighting and light carpentry
  • Implements museum emergency and security procedures and policies
  • Assists with the safe transfer of furniture, fixtures, equipment and art objects
  • Sets up and troubleshoots A/V equipment including projector, screen, microphone and lighting
  • Identifies and reports unusual conditions or situations affecting museum security, visitor/staff safety, and operations of the facility
  • Oversees vendors while onsite

Housekeeping

  • Performs daily housekeeping duties, including cleaning, vacuuming, sanitizing, dusting and sweeping, in all public and behind-the-scenes spaces of the museum building including restrooms, breakrooms, exhibition and event rental spaces.
  • Collects trash and transports it to dumpsters
  • Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:  

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices and procedures used in housekeeping and building maintenance, preferred
  • Knowledge of basic concepts, practices and procedures associated with electrical and mechanical systems and equipment, preferred
  • Knowledge of basic cleaning methods and familiarity with materials, chemicals, supplies, and equipment used to clean offices and public buildings in an efficient and economical manner, preferred
  • Experience working in an arts, cultural or entertainment organization, preferred
