Schedule: The museum is open 7 days a week with a full calendar of rental events. Weekend availability is required for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Facilities
- Assists with repairs and maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Sets up and arranges tables, chairs, and decorations to prepare museum rooms for meetings, internal events and rental events.
- Assists with painting, lighting and light carpentry
- Implements museum emergency and security procedures and policies
- Assists with the safe transfer of furniture, fixtures, equipment and art objects
- Sets up and troubleshoots A/V equipment including projector, screen, microphone and lighting
- Identifies and reports unusual conditions or situations affecting museum security, visitor/staff safety, and operations of the facility
- Oversees vendors while onsite
Housekeeping
- Performs daily housekeeping duties, including cleaning, vacuuming, sanitizing, dusting and sweeping, in all public and behind-the-scenes spaces of the museum building including restrooms, breakrooms, exhibition and event rental spaces.
- Collects trash and transports it to dumpsters
- Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices and procedures used in housekeeping and building maintenance, preferred
- Knowledge of basic concepts, practices and procedures associated with electrical and mechanical systems and equipment, preferred
- Knowledge of basic cleaning methods and familiarity with materials, chemicals, supplies, and equipment used to clean offices and public buildings in an efficient and economical manner, preferred
- Experience working in an arts, cultural or entertainment organization, preferred
